CARING FOR THE INDIVIDUAL

Generating Social Benefits: Our Patient Services

Our primary objective is to provide high-quality and cost-effective care that gives people the freedom to remain in their homes.

By providing care in the preferred setting of the home rather than more expensive facility-based care, our model both improves patient outcomes and satisfaction and lowers the overall cost of care.

Customer/Patient Satisfaction

We carefully track, monitor and report satisfaction using two sources:

  • National Business Research Institute, for personal care services and
  • CAHPS survey process, for home health and hospice services.

Nearly 40,000 customers were surveyed by NBRI between July 1, 2019, and June 30, 2020, with over 9,000 responses.

Management receives quarterly analysis from NBRI, which is shared and reported internally to manage and improve customer satisfaction.

Hospice Foundation

hospAs part of our patient and community commitment, we support an affiliated hospice foundation that engages in community outreach activities focused on the benefits of hospice services to patients and families, and helps provide funding for clinical educational scholarships, as well as patients’ last wishes and other non-hospice related expenses. The foundation provides opportunities to participate meaningfully in our local communities and further promote dignity and comfort to our patients and their families.

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES

Addus Leads the Way with Employment Opportunities

At the forefront of our corporate social contribution is our capacity to offer employment to individuals in the communities that we serve.

HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY

Employee dignity and equality is a central core tenant of our policies, which are embodied in our publicly available Human Rights Policy, containing the following components:

  • Respect for Human Rights
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Safe and Healthy Workplace
  • Workplace Security
  • Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining
  • Work Hours, Wages and Benefits
  • Training
  • Guidance and Reporting for Employees

A copy of our Human Rights policy is available in the Corporate Governance section of our website.

Addus strives to convert Policy to Action. In our view, the strength of the policy is demonstrated by the results it delivers.

Diversity: Our diverse employee population is approximately 64% persons of color and 87% women. Our Board of Directors is currently comprised of 33% women and represents diversity across gender, race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation

Work hours, wages and Pay: Over 33,000 employees, including more than 30,000 caregivers that work on an hourly basis according to local pay scales and wage laws. Professional caregiving provides a diverse workforce with opportunities for meaningful, flexible work, opportunities for internal advancement and potential academic scholarships within clinical disciplines.

Freedom of Association: Many of our employees are covered by collective bargaining agreements with unions, with whom we have actively worked to support both increases in wage standards and corresponding increases in government program reimbursement to support these wage increases.

Guidance and Reporting for Employees: We maintain an active and robust ethics hotline via toll free number and internet website to encourage anonymous reporting.
